Conflicts Attorney – (HIRING NOW!)  for top tier law firm in Washington, DC.  This position is responsible for initiating the conflict clearance process for all new engagements in response to new client/matter requests from partners; actively consulting with and following-up with responsible partners handling new engagements regarding conflicts clearance.  Responsibilities for this position:  analyze results from conflicts database searches and outside sources to identify potential or actual conflicts posed by new work or new hires; advise firm lawyers regarding conflicts clearance;  draft conflicts waivers as necessary and takes steps to cure conflicts; instruct/oversee work of the nonlawyer conflicts staff; document/audit steps taken to clear conflicts; work with ethical walls/screens managed within Intapp Walls tool; along with non-lawyer conflicts staff, maintain/update conflicts database with information about Firm clients and matters, client subsidiaries and affiliates, related parties, etc.  Position Requirements:

Law degree from accredited school

Active DC bar membership required

Familiarity with D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct

Supervisory experience  

Ability to provide instruction in a business setting

Proven legal/business research experience utilizing online databases and print resources required

Prior experience with Intapp OPEN or similar automated conflict of interest clearance workflow procedures and systems as found in AmLaw 100 Firms

Strong analytical skills, interpersonal/written  communications skills

Must have the ability to synthesize complex data into a manageable, logical explanation of the legal issue and recommended steps to be taken.

Excellent judgment and confidence in knowledge of when to escalate an issue.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Staff Attorney Supervisor – for prominent law firm with highly respected Staff Attorney program.  This position is responsible for assisting the Manager with oversight of the Staff Attorney Program; and direct supervision of Staff Attorneys. Responsibilities include: orientation, training, and technology implementation.

Duties for this position:

Coordinating workflow for Staff Attorneys; assigning projects to Staff Attorneys; assisting with projects and establishing best practices

Resolving personnel problems; including disciplinary action and termination of employees.

Advocating widespread use of metric tools to ensure document review quality and productivity across the department.

Monitoring/managing productivity and resource availability.

Reviewing/approving billable hours and maintaining administrative records.

Participating in annual salary reviews and evaluations; providing ongoing feedback and constructive criticism to Staff Attorneys.

Supervising/coordinating document review teams

Facilitating communication between the document review team and the Associates and Partners responsible for case.

Coordinate with  firm Litigation Support group and/or e-discovery vendors to communicate and resolve end-user problems with document databases and review systems.

Reviewing, analyzing, and categorizing documents and information in online-document review databases, and/or hard-copy document collections.

Assisting with review quality control and review metrics reporting processes; and assisting in preparation of privilege logs and other similar tasks

Preparing departmental statistical reports.

Coordinating with HR regarding the recruitment of Staff Attorneys; and assisting with long-range planning and needs assessment for staffing.

Position Requirements

Must have 5+ years of document review supervisory experience in an AMLAW 100 or 200 law firm setting working on large litigation, regulatory, or investigation matters.

Current good standing in the DC Bar required.

Superior organizational aptitude, interpersonal skills, project coordination ability, and strong service orientation. Proven management skills. Prior successful experience delegating tasks, managing teams, and providing leadership. Thorough working knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, and how document review fits into overall discovery processes.  Experience coordinating efforts with Litigation Support, Paralegals, and various vendors to promote successful client representation.

Complete knowledge regarding purpose and typical work-flows of discovery document review projects. Must be familiar with the contract attorney market and factors that affect contract lawyer availability and staffing.

 Substantial experience with on-line document review systems such as Relativity, Ringtail, Kroll, or similar document review software platforms. Prior experience must include searching, batching, early case assessment, analytics, and other managerial functions.

 Ability to work under pressure and a willingness to work additional hours and help others with deadline intensive projects is required.

 J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school required.
